Statement of Faith

THE BIBLE

  • The Bible is God’s Word given to all men through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. It is given that a man may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. It is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

TRINITY

  • God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.

THE FATHER

  • God is great: He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, Holy. It is in Him that we live, move and exist. God is good. He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.

THE SON

  • Jesus Christ is completely human yet completely God. He is the gift of God, given to men to be the final sacrifice for the curse of sin. He freely gave Himself to men to pay the price so that men can be saved. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we can have life and in that defeating of death He was victorious.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

  • The Holy Spirit’s presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.

THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT/ THE GIFT OF TONGUES

  • Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an experience that occurs following conversion.  Jesus “baptizes” us in the Holy Spirit so that we are saturated, soaked, filled and overflowing with the Holy Spirit.  When that happens, we are given the gift of speaking tongues, which allows us to speak directly to God in spiritual languages unknown to us.  (We acknowledge that some people may not immediately speak in tongues at that time, but we believe that all people are enabled to speak in tongues).

ETERNITY

  • Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.

MAN

  • Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

SALVATION

  • The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts. This gift of grace is a gift that is completely secure in the grace given based completely on the character of who Jesus is. It cannot be earned by or stolen by any person.

SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER

  • The security of the believer (often called eternal security) rests on key Bible verses promising that God keeps, seals, and saves believers permanently. Because our salvation is completely and solely based upon the gift of grace given by Jesus. That salvation cannot be purchased or earned by doing good deeds. Because of this truth our salvation does not just redeem us but actually seals us by His grace

THE CHURCH

  • The Church is a local community of baptized believers unified through faith in Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the Gospel to the world. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.

THE SANCTITY OF LIFE

  • Humanity was created in God’s image, but sin has corrupted that image. There is nothing inherently sacred in fallen man. God created us in His image and set us apart from all other forms of life. Although that image has indeed been marred by sin, His image is still present in humanity. Human life is not holy in the same sense that God is holy. The sanctity of life should motivate us to combat all forms of evil and injustice that are perpetuated against human life.

MARRIAGE BETWEEN MAN AND WOMAN

  1. Marriage was intended to be an unbreakable, lifelong union. Husbands and wives become “one flesh” in sexual intimacy, as reflected literally in their children’s lives. Of course, oneness in marriage reaches far beyond the physical level. The original Hebrew word translated as “flesh” refers to much more than a person’s physical or sexual composition. It relates to the whole human existence.
